The S.C. Forestry Commission has created Pocotaligo Station State Forest, a 2,821-acre public forest near Yemassee that preserves wetlands and upland forest and adjoins Coosawhatchie Preserve; the site will open soon for low-impact recreation and will allow hunting beginning with the 2027-2028 hunting season.
